Jacqueline on joining SOGIS: "SOGIS was one of the 1st organizations I joined when I transferred to Texas State in 2010; it has benefited me in numerous occasions. For instance, since then I have earned my role as President in January 2011. SOGIS now participates in various events across campus and by doing so our organization grew from about 10 students to over 25 active student members. The organization has benefited me by utilizing my networking and gis skills, resume preparation, internships, and earning two awards with in the geography department. The greatest achievement was earning the opportunity to be a Student Assistant at the Esri UC Conference this past July 2012. I hope to see our SOGIS organization along with the gis program grow in the near future so it can continue to benefit students."
