Society of Geographic Information Science - SOGIS is a Texas State University Student Organization based out of the Department of Geography.
Mission
To help further educate our members and communities in the GIS, Cartography, Remote Sensing, and GIS Specialties by actively pursuing knowledge and interacting with others.

Activities
- Helping professors with GIScience based education
- Attend Conferences
- Group gatherings – barbeques, River Pub, tubing, camping, etc.
- Better collaboration with other organizations within the department

Requirements
- Currently or previously enrolled in a GIScience class
- Good academic standing - 2.5 overall
- Must perform two service events per semester
- Participation in Alumni Reunion and Student Celebration is required whether through SOGIS or other department organizations.
- $20 a semester fee
- Attend at least 2 meeting a semester
